Lunch With Us
The Lunch With Us program works hand in hand with other local churches and agencies to provide a free lunch 6-days a week for our homeless, low income, and seniors. Each church/agency provides the food and volunteers to make and serve the meal at their church or designated place on their assigned day. The Paradise United Methodist Church has provided over 11,000 meals for local folks in less than 2 years. The success of the Lunch With Us program has lead to PUMC’s active involvement with the Community Action Agency and some very generous local grocers and businesses.
Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner
This event is an outreach to our community’s homeless has helped our local Salvation Army to weather the financial stress of two holidays where baskets for area needy demand significant resources. More than an outreach, those who serve as volunteers find that they are the ones blessed.
Community Drive Through Nativity
This annual event requires over a hundred participants. Some put on wonderful garb and provide neighbors with a rich tableau depicting the events surrounding the birth of Jesus, others cook up a storm for the volunteers who "act" or help direct cars. Still others are there to help preserve costumes or create new ones for next year. We always need help here…it might be the right place for you!
Drama
Our Worship Committee often decides that drama within the Sunday morning worship services enhances the whole experience. Obviously, Lent and Advent are highly dramatic seasons, but there are others as well. Then, we annually strive to put on a dinner theater whose purpose is to both raise funds for various mission projects, but sometimes even the Church’s general budget. Thespians arise…Join us!
Mission Outreach Groups
From Travelers to Matinee Groups to specially targeted Missional Outreach programs like VIM (Volunteers in Mission) our Church offers a variety of great opportunities to serve. Going to Baja, California regularly, the community of Colonet has been a long term mission outreach, several houses built there testify to our on-going concern.
Relay for Life
Our church team, the Marvelous Methodists, is an active participant in the annual American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" that is held every spring in Paradise. If you wish to join the team members walk or assist in the Marvelous Methodist’s booth, please contact PUMC office staff.
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
UMCOR volunteers are heavily involved in relief, recovery and development for people around the world where disasters-fires, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. — have struck. Often first on the scene UMCOR stays long after other relief agencies have gone, fighting the hunger and homelessness created by disaster and providing healing and hope for some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
